Dear Potential New Members,

I’m Amanda Gomez, the 2024 Vice President of Membership for Phi Mu. I am a PC’21 on track to receive a dual degree in Political Science and International Affairs. My time at Florida State University has been so fulfilling and now I have the privilege of leading my chapter through Panhellenic Recruitment!

Phi Mu holds such a special place in my heart and I am excited to open the doors of our home to you. This sisterhood has given me a place of support unlike anything else I’ve ever experienced. My sisters have shown me what real friendship looks like and what home feels like. As a Phi Mu, I have been able to expand my leadership and become a more confident version of myself. Joining this chapter was the best decision I’ve ever made!

During recruitment, the conversations you have and women you meet will stick with you throughout your time as a Panhellenic woman. Here are a few pieces of advice I encourage you to remember:

    1.    Approach each day with an open mind and pure joy. Recruitment is such an exciting process and the best way to maximize your experience is by staying positive and remembering why you want to join a chapter!
   2.    Be authentic. Always enter a chapter with your values at the forefront of how you present yourself. You’ll hear a lot about values- they are what make you who you are. Don’t ever forget them or sacrifice them to fit in a certain box! You are you and nothing is more important than that.
   3.    Follow your heart. You know yourself best, think about what you’re hoping to gain from this experience and make decisions for yourself!

Each day I grow more grateful that I decided to go through Panhellenic recruitment. There is something so powerful about a group of women who consistently love and uplift one another. My hope is that you are able to find that special bond like I did! This is such an exciting time in your college career and there is so much to look forward to. Good luck with recruitment, see you soon!

With love,

Amanda Gomez

A message from our New Member Educator, Layton Corless:

Hi, you lovely, precious Potential New Members!

My name is Layton Corless, and I am Phi Mu’s New Member Educator!

I remember when I graduated high school back in 2021, and I did not think sorority life was right for me. My mom eventually persuaded me to try it out and test run the week to see how things go. And boy did it show me Mama knows best. Although recruitment week can be exhausting as you travel around to the many chapters and talk to so many incredible women in the Greek community, holding a positive mindset will easily carry you through it all. I trusted that things would progress as they should, and I reminded myself this process is not the end of the world. As I went through recruitment, Phi Mu was the constant place I felt comfortable and felt I was my true self with no need of a front, and now I am so proud to be a member of our intelligent, sisterly, and loving chapter.

As you journey through recruitment, keep these hot tips in your mind!
🩷 Do not forget to be confident in who you have grown up to become! If you are comfortable with yourself then this will beam to everyone you talk to!
🩷 Keep an open mind! Even if at first it may seem you have nothing to say, relax, take a deep breath, and remember your journey is truly what you make it!
🩷 Don’t be scared to open up. These women want to get to know you for you! Don’t be scared to push yourself outside your comfort zone. Sometimes the hardest things have the biggest impacts on your life!

I will be rooting for you all! Soak up every single moment as it will flash by soooo fast! I cannot wait to welcome so many of you into our Greek community!
Best wishes and sending so many hugs,
